Rumi is popular in the West for the same reason Malala got a Nobel

On April 2, Majid Qureshi a retired pharmaceutical professional and a long time Bay Area resident gave a talk on the life and poetry of Rumi (Jalaluddin Muhammad Rumi), a 13th century Farsi mystic poet.  The program arranged by Waheed Siddiqee was held at the Pakistani American Culture Center in Milpitas.
West’s renewed interest in Rumi can be attributed to the War on Terror—there is a need to punish the bad Muslims, while rewarding and praising the good Muslims.
